The 2018 CIVITAS Forum Conference will take place from 19-21 September in Umeå, Sweden. The 16th edition of Europe’s premier sustainable mobility event will bring together the CIVITAS community from across the continent and beyond.

Over three days, hundreds of policymakers, city representatives, academics, and practitioners will gather to debate pressing topics surrounding sustainable urban mobility and witness the pioneering solutions bringing cleaner, better transport to Europe.

Participants once again have the opportunity to take part in interactive workshops and sessions on the most urgent issues in mobility, enjoy interesting site visits, and mingle with the most creative mobility minds in Europe. Attendance is free.

The host for 2018

In 2018, the 16th CIVITAS Forum Conference will call Umeå in eastern Sweden home. The city is one of the country’s leading examples of sustainable urban development and its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, adopted in 2011, laid the foundations for extensive incorporation of green ideas into the transport system.

Its ultra-fast charging electric bus initiative has been internationally recognised, receiving the CIVITAS Award for Technical Innovation in 2015, whilst numerous other sustainable mobility measures are being developed as part of Umeå’s efforts to become a smart city. At the Forum, participants will be able to experience these first-hand.
